Das Fest - Karlsrhue, Germany

The German market has always been good to Big Country since the early to mid eighties. There are many loyal fans there and this video is just one example of the many joyous occasions that have taken place over the eighties and nineties. This one is a Saturday evening at a festival in Karlsrhue. As the band take to the stage, the heavens opened and stage roofing and backdrops were nearly lost to a sudden gale. It was the height of summer so no-one cared when the wind subsided but the rain didn't. I have never seen so much rainfall during a concert. There were several inches by the time it finished. The fans did not care. They danced and hollored, pogoed and surfed in it for well over an hour as night descended and the stage lighting made rainbow colours through the rain even more spectacular. The band were soaked too. A special night that was captured by SDR television. A big thank you to all their crew who took part. This video has been edited for television and the sound is as was on the night. No tinkering afterwards in anyway or than an in house mix with no presence of any band member. Some of the credits are a little incorrect (as per the bracketed titles below) but we'll forgive SDR for that as the programme overall is excellent the band and I have the rights to the footage and sound (outside germany) so on going through the office vaults and discovering this, we thought it should be made available.
